Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka Highlights, Cricket World Cup 2023: Powered by fifties from Shakib Al Hasan and Najmul Hossain Shanto, Bangladesh claimed a three-wicket win against Sri Lanka at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

Chasing 280 runs, Bangladesh defeated Sri Lanka by 3 wickets with 53 balls remaining, and with this, Sri Lanka are eliminated from this ICC Men's World Cup 2023.

Despite losing  Tanzid Hasan (9) and Litton Das (23) early, Bangladeshi batters Najmul Hossain Shanto (90) and skipper Shakib Al Hasan (82) kept the run rate steady with their 169 runs partnership.

Though Shanto and Hasan were also out later, and wickets kept on falling, Bangladesh managed to finish of  the game in 41.1 overs with three wickets remaining. Not only Bangladesh won the match, but also eliminated Sri Lanka from qualifying for the World Cup Semi-Finals.

For Sri Lanka, Dilshan Madushanka picked three wickets, while Maheesh Theekshana and Angelo Mathews took 2 wickets each.

After this win, Bangladesh are now at 7th position, with 4 points and a NRR of (-)1.142, while Sri Lanka slipped to 8th spot with 4 points and a NRR of (-)1.160.

Sri Lanka was all out on the score of 279 runs as Charith Asalanka slammed century to take his team's score forward. Bangladesh made a comeback in the death overs as Tanzim Hasan Sakib clinched 3 wickets.

Sri Lanka lost another two wickets in quick succession as Shakib Al Hasan dismissed Sadeera Samarawickrama and Angelo Mathews came on crease. Angelo Mathews's helmet was broken which took him sometime, but meanwhile Shakib Al Hasan appealed for a TIME OUT, which was accepted by the umpires

Bangladesh is dominating the game at current stage as their bowling dismissed the Sri Lankan top order with Pathum Nissanka, Kusal Perara and Kusal Mendis sitting back in the dugout. Charith Asalanka and Sadeera Samarawickrama are the two new batters on crease.

Shakib al Hasan's Bangladesh bat first at the Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium in Delhi. Sri Lanka captain Kusal Mendis, who lost the toss, said he doesn't mind batting first and will be looking to post a total of more than 300.

Bangladesh have had a terrible run at this year's ICC Cricket World Cup, losing 6 of their 7 matches after winning their opening match against Afghanistan. In their last match against Pakistan, Bangladesh suffered a crushing defeat as the batsmen failed to put up a good total and were dismissed for 204 while the bowlers struggled to restrict runs as the total was chased down in just 32.3 overs.

Sri Lanka, on the other hand, had enjoyed a decent World Cup campaign before successive defeats to Afghanistan and India in their last two matches. A 302-run thrashing at the hands of India meant that the Lankans were also eliminated from the tournament and are no longer in contention for a place in the semi-finals.

While Sri Lanka have had the class of Dilshan Madushanka, one of the tournament's leading wicket-takers, their other bowlers have looked relatively pale. The humiliating defeat to India in their last encounter will also be fresh in the minds of the Lankan batsmen, who were bowled out for just 55 runs

Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka Live: Shakib Al Hasan announced ‘Player of the Match’

Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka Live: Shakib Al Hasan announced ‘Player of the Match’ for his stunning performace, that includes scoring 82 runs and taking two wickets.

On a flat wicket, Bangladesh have restricted Lanka to below 300 which is a tremendous effort. The key for them was picking wickets at regular intervals and that is what always pegged the Lankans back. Except for Taskin Ahmed, everybody got a wicket at least. Tanzim Hasan Sakib was expensive, but he got three wickets. The rest though bowled with control and overall, Shakib Al Hasan will be very pleased with how things have ended. For the Lankansw, Asalanka was the star for the evening with a brilliant hundred
